There are basically 3 options for getting from Bangkok down to the islands, the quickest and most expensive is to fly from Bangkok to Koh Samui flights are usually around £60 ($100) from Koh Samui you can take the ferry to any of the surrounding island, although check out the ferry times at www.lomprayah.com as there are only a couple of ferries a day, meaning you may have to stop over on Koh Samui.

Another option is the train from Bangkok to Chumporn There are several overnight trains, and you can buy a combined train and boat ticket to whichever island you are heading to, these range in price from around 850-1500tbh around £20 ($35) depending on which class and whether you want a seat or a bed. The journey takes around 12 hours included a bus from the train station to the ferry port. The third and probably most popular way is by bus and boat, you can buy a combined ticket from Lomprayah for 1050tbh about £20 ($35). There are two buses a day connecting with ferries for most destinations. The overnight option is probably the best as it takes around 12 hours. There are tonnes of buses that do this route, but if you buy your ticket from the Lomprayah office in Bangkok on Rambuttri road, their bus is the best quality they have less seats but you can recline them so that you’re almost horizontal, they also have air con and TV screens and event provide a snack on board.
