So im not sure if this place is still flying a little under the radar or if I was just slow to catch on, but i had no idea Asiatique existed until my Thai teacher told be about it. Its recently opened (2012) and the old shipping pier which has been out of commission for years has been transformed into a hustling bustling array of tiny shops and restaurants. Imagine a more sophisticated version of a night market, with hundred of quirky stores and individual vendors. The restaurants along the front mostly have their own live music and a view out across the river, these tend to be the more high-class restaurants but there are plenty more cheaper eats in the food section. The best thing about this place is that it seems to attract equal amounts of Thai and tourists, its definitely worth going to see, even if your just wander around without buying anything!
