There are so many things to do in Barcelona its impossible to see it all in just a weekend, but its still one of the best Spanish Destinations for a weekend trip, especially with Ryan air having ridiculously cheap flights out there, check out my post on how this weekends accommodation and flights cost less that £36!We didn’t have long in Barcelona, so wanted to pack in as much as possible on our first day, but also love to get the feel of a city by walking around as much as possible so we started our first day walking down from our accommodation passed the Sagrada Familia where we stopped for a few minutes for a few obligatory photos and down to the beach, Its so nice to have a beach right in the city centre, you can slip from bars and office buildings to sun, sea and sand in minutes! We walked down the beach towards Las Ramblas and walked up to the Boqueria Food market, wandering around the market between the fruit shakes, cured ham and cheese stalls we were getting pretty hungry so we stopped of for freshly made salami and cheese baguettes with a glass of wine in the middle of the market. Next was the long and uphill walk to Park Güell, but it was worth it to look at all the crazy architecture and as it is higher up you can look out over the city from lots of points in the park, if its a cloudless day im sure it makes an amazing place to watch sunset! After a brief stop back at our accommodation, we headed back to Las Ramblas for a ridiculous sized beer, the smallest i think is a litre and they go up to about 3 litre glasses that you can barely pick up! We were lucky enough to be in town on the same weekend as a traditional Spanish festival where we went to watch flamenco and drink cocktails! But if your in town on a regular weekend try to check out one of the flamenco shows, some are expensive but lots of bars have a mini-show including a drink, just hunt around for the best deal! After heading back into town for some much needed tapas and paella we were absolutely creak crackered and turned in for the night. It just shows you though, you can certainly pack alot into a day!
