I was tempted to turn up and find accommodation on arrival in Yangon but in the end opted for staying at Aung sii guest house (Ocean Pearl Inn II) because it provided pick up from the airport.
After checking in I was super glad we booked there the staff were really friendly and helpful and after we checked in to our room they rushed in and told us there was a room with a window available if we would like to swap…. Of course we would!! The rooms were basic but clean and had aircon, hot water and a comfortable enough bed.
The location is brilliant, although I was at first worried that it was a bit far out, in the end I loved the location it was in a street full of local street sellers and we didn’t see another western person in the neighbourhood whatsoever. It was close enough to the centre to walk anywhere but far enough out to be in a ‘local’ neighbourhood.
Overall I thought Aung Sii guest house was great, it is the slightly cheaper sister of Ocean Pearl Inn which is located near by. There is very little in price between them and I assume the standards would be roughly the same so if one is full you could always try the other!
Through our stay the staff bent over backwards for us, gave us tonnes of information and recommended some awesome stuff. They take bookings by emails so head to their website if you want to enquire.
