Macanese Food

Macanese specialties are not what you would expect, and huge variety is available with favorites being Portuguese breads, Natas – Portuguese custard tarts (Tourists often make the trip from mainland China, just to sample some of these famous egg tarts), African baked chicken, egg rolls and Serradura – a chilled layered dessert of icecream,  crushed buscuit and cream.



Macau is the worlds biggest gambling hub and so a trip wouldn’t be complete without some form of gambling! The greyhound track is a great place to start, so head to the Canidrome, asias only greyhound racing stadium to have a bet or visit one of the many casinos. Highest bungee jump in the world

Head to the Macau Tower and sign up for the worlds highest ‘Sky Jump’ at 233m (It’s the same as a bungee jump except it is tethered so you do not hit the building when you reach the bottom). You can jump in the day or night time and it costs $386 or $474 including photos, videos and GoPro video on a USB.


 Soak up some History

Head to Senado Square, one of the eight historic center piazzas. Full of neoclassic architecture its a great place to grab a coffee, sit back relax and watch the world go by. You can also check out Ruinas de Sao Paulo, this historical site is considered one of the city’s main attractions and is hugely symbolic, the ruins date back to the 17th century but all thats left now is the facarde and staircase after a huge fire in a typhoon 1835.

Wave time

Catch a wave at the Galaxy Macau Resort located on Cotai strip, this 1.9 billion USD resort is like a wonderland. It has the worlds largest rooftop wave pool, with waves up to 1.5m high, and a fake beach of imported sand, a huge range of restaurants and activities, you sure won’t be bored here. Make sure you check out the ‘Fortune diamond’ in the lobby, a huge fountain display which transforms into a roulette wheel before a giant diamond appears from the top, its quite a sight and is supposed to bring good luck to hopeful gamblers!
