Climbing to the view point and lagoon in Railay is a must do if your up for a bit of adventure! The wetter it is the harder and less safe it is, so bear this in mind before setting out in a storm, saying that we climbed after a few days of torrential rain and had no issues. However we made it to the view point fine, and as far as being able to see the lagoon, but with another two near vertical and particularly trechourous looking drops left we quit there and made our way back down. In the dry season I hear getting to the lagoon is a lot easier!
How to get there?
Head to the east beach in Railay and walk south towards Phranang cave & beach, there is a well laid path so it’s easy to find, just after the path has turned in from the beach towards the west there is a pavilion on your right and opposite a rock face with ropes dangling down, it would be easy to miss it if you weren’t looking!
What you need?
Noting really, we did it in bare feet easily and carried only a bottle of water which we left tucked away on the first ledge and collected on our way back down. Note that the mud is very red and does not come out of clothes, so perhaps wear something old.
