We drove straight through Puerto Vallarta, looking for something a bit more relaxed. We had read a little about Boca de Tomatlan and thought maybe there would be a place to camp or some cheap accommodation, when we got here we saw it was fairly small and it didn’t look like there was much of a place to camp so we ended up staying at Posada Pacifica which is just over a small foot bridge across the river from the main area of restaurants etc.
We stayed in one of their apartments for a few nights with a big bedroom, lounge area, kitchen and an amazing huge balcony across the front complete with hammocks and chairs and tables, looking out across the river and green slopes opposite. We spent most of our time out on this balcony just watching the river and people passing, reading books and having some cold bevies!
The owners were so friendly and helpfully and suggested lots of stuff for us to do and helped us with info about the local area! There’s so much to do, from hiking (read my post on hiking to Las Animas beach on my sister blog here) to kayaking to just chilling at the beach or visiting the local islands or secluded beaches, a visit to Boca de Tomatlan is so worth putting on your list its not even funny!
We didn’t stop grinning the whole time we were staying at Posada Pacifica, and can’t recommend staying here enough!
